私について｜Profile

渡部 周｜Shu Watanabe

商業印刷におけるデザイン実務を軸に、教育、作家活動、出版支援など多角的なアプローチで視覚表現に携わる。

【教育・指導】
武蔵野美術大学（通信教育課程）でのデジタル造形基礎をはじめ、美術専門学校でのPBL（プロジェクト学習）、美術予備校での推薦入試対策など、初学者から専門家までを対象とした多様な教育現場で講師を務める。個々の習熟度に合わせた課題設計と、実務に即した論理的な指導に定評がある。

【デザイン・出版支援】
カタログや書籍などの商業印刷物のデザインを継続して手がける傍ら、写真家やアーティストを対象としたブック制作のディレクションや、InDesignを用いたワークショップを展開。作家の思想を「本」という形態に定着させるための技術的・構造的支援を専門的に行う。

【作家活動】
自身もアーティストブック制作をライフワークとし、歴史的な記録や社会的な事象をテーマに、リサーチと表現を横断する独自の出版活動を続けている。

Centered on professional graphic design for commercial printing, I engage in visual expression through a multifaceted approach that encompasses education, artistic practice, and editorial support.

【Education & Instruction】
I serve as an instructor across a diverse range of educational settings, from Musashino Art University (Correspondence Course) teaching Digital Modeling Foundations to vocational art schools focusing on Project-Based Learning (PBL) and art preparatory schools specializing in admissions strategies. I have earned a strong reputation for designing assignments tailored to individual proficiency levels and providing logical, practice-based instruction.

【Design & Editorial Support】
While continuously designing commercial printed matter such as catalogs and books, I also provide direction for artist book production and lead InDesign workshops for photographers and artists. I specialize in providing the technical and structural support necessary to manifest an artist’s vision into the physical form of a “book.”

【Artistic Practice】
As my lifework, I create my own artist books, pursuing unique publishing projects that bridge the gap between research and expression, with a focus on historical records and social phenomena.

私が写真集のブックデザインを担当したこちらの写真集が、第34回林忠彦賞を受賞しました。

This photobook, for which I was in charge of the book design, has won the 34th Tadahiko Hayashi Award.
